  Mrs. Dorothy I. Nunnery

Dorothy Ingram Nunnery, longtime resident of Clinton, passed away Saturday, January 9th 2010, at the Arbor in Ridgeland.
 
Mrs. Nunnery was born in Cleveland, Mississippi on July 4th, 1922. She graduated from Cleveland High School and went on to graduate from Delta State Teachers' College in Cleveland in 1943. She taught school in Moorehead and Benoit before her marriage in 1947 to Paul N. Nunnery of Arcola.

For many years Mrs. Nunnery was an unofficial staff member at the Baptist Children's Village where her husband was Executive Director. She was a surrogate mother for the many children who made the village their home between 1960 and 1990 and was admired by all who knew her.

Before moving to Sunnybook Retirement Community in Madison, Mrs. Nunnery was a long-time member of Morrison Heights Baptist Church in Clinton and a faithful member of the Fidelis Sunday School class.

Mrs. Nunnery was preceded in death by her parents, Grover C and Ellen Permenter Ingram of Cleveland; brothers, Linwood Ingram and Edward Ingram of Cleveland, Garth Ingram of Hollandale; sister, Glenda Ingram Mills of Shaw; and her daughter, India Ruth Nunnery of Clinton.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Paul N. Nunnery of Ridgeland; daughters, Bess J Perry (Tom) of Dublin, GA; Hilda H Boteler (Bob) and Doris F. Macsherry of Jackson, Barbara N Nettles of Alpharetta, GA; and son, Nash Nunnery of Jackson. She is loved and remembered by a host of grandchildren as well: Catherine Perry Engelbracht (Tim) of McDonough, GA, Matt Perry (Shannon) of Dublin, Ga, Kirby Boteler of Jackson, Ginger Powell (Matt) of Boone, NC, Paul Nettles of Honolulu, HI and Seth Nettles of Alpharetta, GA. She leaves seven great-grandchildren; Abby, Erin and Ben Englebracht of McDonough, GA, Jessica and Matt Perry of Dublin, GA, Madeline and Ella Powell of Boone, NC.

Visitation is schedule 4-7 pm Monday, January 11, 2010, and after 9:30 Tuesday at Lakewood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 12, 2010, at 10 am in the funeral home chapel with burial in Hollandale Municipal Cemetery at 2 pm.
In lieu of flowers, tributes to Mrs. Nunnery's life of service to others may be made to the India Nunnery Memorial at the Baptist Children's Village, Clinton, MS.
