The Emergency Care Program is a maximum 45-day program, the function of which is to meet the immediate needs of children ages 4 through 17.  The program accepts referrals from public child protection agencies, as well as private placements.  Many of these children are from abusive or neglectful homes, while others are placed in the program due to changes in their life circumstances which interrupt adequate care in their homes.  During their stay in the program, an Emergency Care Counselor works with the child and the legal custodian to determine the placement needs of the child and to formulate a plan by which these needs can best be met.  Often this plan is for the child to be reunited with family.  At other times the plan may involve application for placement in our Extended Residential Care programs, or utilization of other child-placement resources.

The Emergency Care Program is located on The India Nunnery Campus and has a capacity for ten boys and ten girls.  The children attend local public schools and Baptist churches in the community.  Additionally, they spend time with the Campus Pastor and participate in various recreational activities.

Inquiries and referrals to this program are made through the Clinical Services Office at The Baptist Children?s Village at 601-922-2242.
