Dorcas In-Home Family Support Program
As The Baptist Children’s Village continues the vision of expanding the ministry to involve more children and their families who need services offered by the organization, a new and exciting in-home family support program has been established. Recognizing that God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society, the goal of the Dorcas In-home Family Support Program is to minister to families who are near the point of collapse by providing needed services that can give the family new hope.
The Dorcas Program seeks to facilitate the family’s ability to produce an environment that is safe for the children as the family becomes able to provide adequate sustenance, proper security for the children and appropriate discipline. With these goals complete, the likelihood of the children being removed from the home is greatly reduced. The Program is shaped to improve the stability of the family, increase family access and utilization of community resources and assistance and improve the ability of the family to provide adequate care for the children for whom it is responsible.
In the event the home environment does not improve over the period of the service agreement, The Baptist Children’s Village may offer respite care or regular admission for the children in the home. During the time the children are at BCV, we will continue to work with the parents to reach the goals necessary to reunite the family.
The Dorcas Program will initially serve the following counties: Calhoun, Chickasaw, Itawamba, Lafayette, Lee, Pontotoc and Union.
For more information about this program contact The Baptist Children's Village Social Service Department at 601-922-2242.
