» Ministries » Extended Residential Care
The Extended Care Program is a relatively long-term program, the function of which is to meet the long-term needs of children, ages 4 through 21. Children in this program remain in our care until such time that they may be reunited with their families or otherwise be placed in caring family environments. Some residents remain in our care until they are equipped to function independently. Children in Extended Care tend to be from situations similar to those in our Emergency Care, but whose circumstances require more than 30 days to be resolved. During their stay with us, each child lives in a cottage with other residents and is assigned a master-level Counselor or Case Manager who works with the child, the Cottage Team and the Child's custodian to resolve the circumstances which resulted in their placement. Additionally, while the child resides with us, efforts are made to expose the child to the Gospel message through evangelism and discipleship, and to develop the child's academic skills, daily living and social skills, and emotional coping skills. The children attend local public schools and Baptist churches in the community, and participate in many recreational activities, both on and off campus.
Referrals for this program are received from public child protection agencies, as well as private placements. Inquiries and referrals to this program are made through the Clinical Services Office of The Baptist Children's Village at (601) 922-2242.
